There are a number of reasons why you may wish to rent a temporary fence. You may want to keep a construction site secure and locked up, you may wish to secure the area around a permanent fence that has been blown over or damaged, or you may be hosting a temporary event, like a carnival or fair, and want to create secure boundaries. Regardless, there are many important questions to ask as you look to rent a fence. Some questions you already know to ask, such as pricing information, but other information you may not know to ask. Here are three of the questions you should ask when hiring a fence rental company that you may not know to ask.

Do You Deliver and Set Up the Fence?

One of the most important questions to ask when hiring a fence company is whether they deliver and set up the fence. Some fencing companies will deliver the fence to your site and set it up on your behalf. Other companies require you to come to their site and pick up the fence and set it up around your perimeter yourself. If you do not have a large truck then you may have to rent one to transport the fence, which can cost money. Setting it up can also take time. In most cases, it is easier to select a company that transports it and sets it up.

Do You Provide or Sell Insurance for the Fence?

Another key question to ask as you look to select a fence company for your fencing needs is whether they provide or sell insurance for the fence. Some companies provide insurance for their fences, meaning you don't have to worry about it; other companies may require you to buy insurance. Insurance helps to cover the cost of the fence in case vandals cut or damage the fence, spray it with spray paint, or if strong winds knock the fence over and damage it.

Who is Required to Maintain the Fence?

The last key question to ask when selecting a fence rental company is who is responsible to maintain the fence. If you are renting the fence for just a few days, this may not be something that you need to consider. However, if you're renting the fence for several months, you may want to ask this question. Maintaining a fence can include cleaning it, removing rust, painting it, and oiling the hinges on swinging gates or doors. Different companies have different expectations about maintenance so you should always know what the company expects you to maintain and what they will maintain when it comes to the fencing.

If you have never rented a temporary fence before, you may be unsure of what questions to ask a fence company. Asking the three above questions, in addition to more well-known questions such as pricing and availability, can help you find the fence company that is best suited to your company's needs.
